I think the main strength of my project was the drawing of my face behind the clutter. Although it does not look exactly like me, it is what makes my project my own. It was the part I worked the hardest on. The pictures, which were meant to represent what, and who is important in my life add a unique twist. Each photo highlights friends, or family, or activities that are meaningful and play a significant role. Without the pictures this would be an ordinary self portrait. It is the bits of color that add more life to the piece, which although is not what I intended turned out to be a metaphor for what adds color to your life.
I liked how your picture was cut into squares kind of showing you have different parts of you. I kind of like how you shaded your hair and your face.
ReplyDeleteHaving the black background strongly emphasized your drawing, it brought the white and my eyes were drawn to the eyes and nose. Also, I thought that the idea of having pictures weaved through your drawing was creative and symbolic. It showed that these people or symbols are an important part of what makes you, you.

ReplyDeleteYour self portrait was REALLY accurate! Like amazingly so. I love the organizational patterns of your picture it really balanced the piece out. The contrast between the black background and white paper was great emphasis. Somehow the piece was complex yet simple, great work!
i liked the idea of cutting your portrait into separate squares. It got a message across that life is broken up into pieces and that it can not come in one package. Also, your self-portrait was very realistic, by just looking at it I could tell it was you.
ReplyDeleteMaggie i loved that yours was cut into many different peice to me that shows that you have more sides to you then one can see. I loved how you put pictures of your life into your portait to. And of course the drawing was AMAZING!!!! <3
ReplyDeleteMaggie, you self portrait was REALLY good! The face was drawn really well and looked amazing! I liked how the background was black and the rest of the piece was mostly white, it really made the face stand out. It also really gave the piece a nice sense of balance and symmetry that you cut up the face into squares that were the same size. I also really liked how the pictures of things that were important to you were incorporated into the face and not just somewhere off to the side. It looked really good how they went over and under the face and how some parts were covered while others covered part of the drawing.
ReplyDeleteMaggie, I really liked your drawing. You're such a talented artist with the way you did your eyes and the shading perfectly. The emphasis with the background and the whiteness of the sheet you drew your self on. Also, the way you cut yourself up and added the major parts of you in between the lines was a really good way to incorparate what makes you Maggie. Really good job on this!
ReplyDeleteMaggie, I really liked how you split up your drawing. It looked almost like a puzzle and that when you put all the pieces together you get yourself. I also like how in almost every box you had a different picture.
ReplyDeleteMaggie, i like how you split the drawing up because its not something most people would have done, also having the pictures be in color really emphized them and pointed them out. i also like how you did not color in your face, and had a black background it made the art work stand out and speak for its self.i also like how the pictures were differnt and in different places on your face
ReplyDeleteGood job. The different sections of the portrait gave it a structure and a theme of organization. The black background provided emphasis for the your white face making you stand out, like you do in life. The different levels and textures made your art look very intriguing. Good work.
ReplyDeleteMaggie, I really really really enjoyed your piece. The self portrait is beautifully draw and it amazes me how good you are at drawing!!!!!!!! Also I love how you wove the other pictures throughout your project.

ReplyDeleteMaggie I really enjoyed looking at your peice. It was a really great piece of art. The initial drawing/ traditional self portrait was amazing you got all the detail including the shading.I also enjoyed looking at what you kept dear to you by putting pictures of things around and in the face. Overall you did an amazing job!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was obvious that the person in the portrait is you, you drew yourself extraordinarily well, with the depth of shading and your features. The message is also made very clear because the "clutter" you included in your art shows that things that are important to you make you who you are rather than just your appearance. By cutting your face into squares and strips and pasting these on the black paper you make people "read between the lines."
